Do you know this looking-good girl?
Yes, you might have seen her before. Her last known alias is "Gohara" and although this girls' real name is not Gohara, and I'm sure that she does not even know that some people is making her famous through spamming emails sent to scam people, her picture is published here so you can recognize this scam as soon as you receive it in your inbox.
Though the picture is clear, other evident sign is that the email is written in poor English, like if the sender is using a translator and making "evident" that is not an English speaking person.
Other sign is that what they try to explain doesn't make sense, like your email was in a list of emails and "she" picked yours... yes, you're one in a million!
The exact same email is being mass sent to many randomly chosen recipients. Things that change, are sender email address and email service used for sending it. The name is the same in all of them; "Gohara". Of course, IP address is different every time it is sent. I guess they are using untraceable proxy servers, but haven't verified the "untraceable" part. IP addresses include IP's from Gmail and Prodigy as well. I received my self, two identical messages on two email addresses I own. The message was the same, but "her" personal reply email and IP address was different on each one.
What to do?
Just completely ignore it. Take no action. They will either desist or try any other method of scamming people. They will always send the picture above with their emails, so they will be able to know (1) if your email is valid or not and (2) if you receive it and read it. Web mail services like Hotmail for example, and email clients like Outlook Express, give you the choice of either downloading or not, any picture that may come along with your email messages, so your computer don't be identified in case you decide not to download. So, the fact that the picture is downloaded, shows to the scammer some interest from you and it will encourage the scammer to keep on trying with you. So again, just completely ignore them, even if you downloaded the picture for curiosity like I did. Remember, you can bite the bait as many times as you wish, just do not fall in their trap.
What do they want?
This is a very old type of scam. They just want to get in touch with people and if they find out that the individual is willing to go for a relationship even if the other person is supposedly overseas, they go on making it more intimate and when they feel confident enough, they explain to their targeted person that they need money to travel to your Country to personally know you and possibly marrying you. They will ask in a very subtle way, making you believe that they prefer to get the money from somewhere else and not from you, because you are very important to them. That is why they will keep sending nice pictures and writing as persuasive as they can, while using the translator to gain your trust. Here is where the translator part comes into play. While it is sometimes used because the scammer knows no English, it is also used to convince the target that they are overseas and not in the USA as many are.
Once you send the money, they simply disappear (no, they do not even say thanks).
In the past, this was believed to be done by Russian scammers, but the truth is, that scammers doing this, are from any part of the world and 99.9% are guys and NOT girls.
